Just this weekend I saw the Judd Apatow-produced and Paul Feig-directed comedy “Bridesmaids”. Even though I had no clue, who the director was, I felt like going to the cinema and watching this movie. To tell the truth, I am a big fan of Apatow’s work (particularly the hilarious film “The Forty Yr old Virgin” and sweet “Funny People”), therefore I thought than he is not linked with a bad project. And also to my surprise, I used to be absolutely right!
The film, provided by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, incorporates a well-written script that has a dozen really funny moments. The movie tells the tale of bridesmaids, have been invited to their friend’s wedding. Although Annie’s (Kristen Wiig, SNL star) life is in pretty bad shape (she lost her business and boyfriend), she can’t say “No” to her best companion Lillian (Maya Rudolph, ex-SNL star). Additional bridesmaids includes such stars as Rose Byrne (the beautiful Australian actress, well known on her role from the Television show “Damages”), Elle Kemper (“The Office”) and Melissa McCarthy (“Mike and Molly”), who, in my view, was in excess of great!
Many men and women will likely think that this can be another ordinary “chick flick”, but that will be a quite inaccurate assumption. This movie is not just regarding the wedding and also the feuding bridesmaids, it’s going more deeply. It attempts to explore adjustments in female friendships throughout different intervals. It illustrates what real friendship is, it’s not just the glamour. There is something considerably more to that particular. I do think the stereotype “chick flick” can’t be described this specific film; it’s even more of a comedy/romantic comedy, in my opinion. “Bridesmaids” has both, hilariously funny moments along with an enormous heart to it.
My 5 best “Bridesmaids” moments:
1. Scene within the Brazilian restaurant
2. Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) as Annie’s friend (with benefits)
3. Rose Byrne’s unbelievably beautiful wardrobe in the movie, she’s a real cutie
4. Bachelorette party in Fight Club style
5. The Flight to Vegas for that bachelorette party
“Bridesmaids” is a superb movie populated by funny women. Everyone, that is a minimum of acquainted with SNL, knows that Kristen and Maya are hilarious women! They actually do posses a genuine comedic talent. Rose Byrne is a delight here. Two other supporting actresses are also very talented and funny. The film is a wonderful mixture of smart, funny, raunchy and heartbreaking scenes. Hopefully it’s going to be smart inside the box office since it really does need to remain visible by millions of people (besides women).
